Yesterday Chill and I went to Houston for the Texans-49ers game. The game itself was pretty brutal (especially for cousin quarterback Shaun Hill), but some highlights of the game:
- Sitting 11 rows up from the field. We were so very close.
- Alex Smith replaces Shaun in the second half, when the 49ers almost came back from a 21-0 deficit. Made for quite an exciting finish, but not sure if this is a good or bad thing?
- Three army people parachuting into the stadium from the sky, one holding an American flag and another holding a football. This was pretty awesome.
- The Bushes were at the game.…

Every year is Austin City Limits is memorable in a very different way. This year, it was cold rain on Saturday that led to the warm, oh-so-yummy-sewage-smelling Mudfest on Sunday. Can’t say that I preferred it that way, but there won’t be any other ACL like this one, that’s for sure.
FRIDAY
My bike was fixed (from being hit by a car four days prior) just in the nick of time so that I could ride my bike to Zilker on Friday. It was a pretty sweet ride since I just took the Lance Armstrong bikeway from downtown straight to Austin High…
Tomorrow I leave for California for a good 5-6 days! I am finally excited, although I can’t believe it’s already Labor Day weekend. It will be a fun time. The first few days will be spent in Santa Cruz as Doublewide plays in the Labor Day Championships (on those gorgeous, gorgeous UCSC athletic fields), and the next few will be a tour of wine country, with beautiful drives and visits to the various wineries in Sonoma and Napa. It was be a nice break from these 100-degree days in Austin (not that it bothers me all that much). Of course,…
I saw the latest movie installment Wednesday night. I wasn’t quite sure what to make of it at first, but now that I’ve had a handful of days to ponder over it, I’ve come to the conclusion that it was by far the most disappointing film yet. I would still recommend all Potter lovers to watch it (how can you not), because there are some good aspects about it (and the cinematography is awesome), but for most part, don’t get your hopes up and don’t have high expectations. I knew they were going to leave out a bunch of stuff…
I am proud to say that I am now part of a championship team from a club ultimate tournament! My team won the mixed division of the College Station Peanut Butter and Jelly Time tournament this past weekend. We went 4-0 on Saturday and won semis and finals on Sunday. I had a ton of fun with our team (the Az1an Sandwiches - because all our women were Asian and all our men were not, for the most part!), and of course, the tournament director who, aside from organizing the whole thing, let us all stay at her apartment. I…
The last few days have been - well, let’s just say, they could have been better. A horribly annoying rash broke up on my bum/groin, which prompted me to go to the doctor, get a cortisone shot, and get some Vanos - i.e. a $450 tube of steroid cream - prescribed. Thank goodness for my sweet insurance package with Pluck. The rash has mostly gotten better, at least in the area it started in, but I’ve found other spots popping up. Will this ever go away? I blame this on the bouldering and swimming trip we took to Rogers Park…
