A small break in the routine

Posted August 16th, 2010 in ,

I took a break this past weekend from working out and instead spent most of it outside in 105-degree weather. Chill’s team Flux played at Texas 2 Finger and I made the conscious decision that I would rather mill around the sidelines rather than playing. Even so, it was still brutal - yes, walking and sitting in the sun and 105 degrees is difficult - I feel like I had an exhausting weekend anyway!

It was fun though. Friday night we drove up early to catch the Boston Red Sox - Texas Rangers game with a bunch of friends, which was really…

Off to California! and Addicted to Climbing.

Posted September 3rd, 2009 in ,

Tomorrow I leave for California for a good 5-6 days! I am finally excited, although I can’t believe it’s already Labor Day weekend. It will be a fun time. The first few days will be spent in Santa Cruz as Doublewide plays in the Labor Day Championships (on those gorgeous, gorgeous UCSC athletic fields), and the next few will be a tour of wine country, with beautiful drives and visits to the various wineries in Sonoma and Napa. It was be a nice break from these 100-degree days in Austin (not that it bothers me all that much). Of course,…

Champions of Sandwiches

Posted July 21st, 2009 in , ,

I am proud to say that I am now part of a championship team from a club ultimate tournament! My team won the mixed division of the College Station Peanut Butter and Jelly Time tournament this past weekend. We went 4-0 on Saturday and won semis and finals on Sunday. I had a ton of fun with our team (the Az1an Sandwiches - because all our women were Asian and all our men were not, for the most part!), and of course, the tournament director who, aside from organizing the whole thing, let us all stay at her apartment. I…

Hello… June?!?

Posted June 1st, 2009 in , , ,

I just realized today is the first day of June. Really? June already? It’s amazing how time can fly by so fast. I feel like I barely had a chance to get accustomed to May.

Not a whole lot going on right now. I’m still slowly getting back into the swing of exercise-things. I’ve kept up climbing (got myself a month membership to the North gym), kind-of-sort-of started running again (once a week? twice a week?), and kind-of-sort-of started playing more ultimate again. This past weekend I played in TBUF (beach ultimate) in Galveston, which was fun despite our defending champions…

Getting back on track (or trying to)

Posted May 18th, 2009 in , ,

Today is one of the sorest days my body has had in a very a long time. It hurts to laugh, I’m having trouble raising my arms above my head, and my legs feel like jello. As much as the pain is, though, I have to say… I miss feeling sore! For once I feel like I’m making progress, and it’s been awhile!

It’s been a frustrating battle the past few months, trying to get back into the exercise swing of things. As I summarized in this post, I’ve been going through a cycle of sickness and injury. It actually continued…

Finally! I’m back (for now)…

Hey everyone. I know it’s been awhile, that it’s funny that my last “real” post was over a year ago stating that I would blog more. Well, guess I was wrong! Sorry about that… although it’s not like you missed all that much, anyway. :)

So I just finished re-doing my entire site. I didn’t do a redesign, so if you didn’t notice much of a difference, that is why. Basically, the last version was entirely XSLT-driven (and I really mean entirely), with just a main page and the gallery. It was fun to code at the time, but I was…
